Mummy 'Me-time' Activities

I have said (or written, to be exact) a lot about how important it is for mums to take some time for themselves. It's super easy to get caught up in 'mummy-ing' all day that you can almost lose yourself. When I first had my son Ethan I found it really hard to take time for myself because I almost felt guilty for doing so. But experience and time has taught me that a happy mum equals a happy child. So now 'me time' is a must! Something me and my husband book into our shared calendar and here are few listed that I love to do when I get some time to myself!

1. Watch a series on Netflix. Currently I've really enjoyed 'The Umbrella Academy', re-runs of 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Money Heist'. There is nothing like lounging in some comfy PJ's and cup of herbal tea and good ol' series. I've said it in a previous blog post but solitude is sacred. Time alone to recharge or just gather your thoughts, can literally make a world of difference. Sometimes you need to be alone to come back better and stronger for your family.

2. Watching YouTube videos for encouragement/sermons, music and fashion inspiration. I just love how fashion allows you to express how you feel in different ways and I love changing up my style and honestly when I feel good in my clothes I just feel better overall.

3. Manicure and Pedicure. Okay so nail shops have just re-opened and I've booked myself in for a pedicure this week! When I schedule in a few hours to myself I like to go to my local nail salon with my sister, we sit in that massage chair, soak our feet and catch up. And I try my best to think of absolutely nothing and push that mum guilt to the side!

4. A good sweaty workout is a great de-stress.

At the moment it's been home workouts for me and I must admit I've not missed the gym much during this pandemic! There's nothing like that feeling of accomplishment when your workout is done. Especially when you start to see the results!

5. Reading/ Audio books.

Currently I'm reading James Clear's 'Atomic Habits', which I've raved about on my instagram. Definitely grab it if you can, you won't be disappointed! But I must say, I've been finding audio books a little more convenient so I can get on and do bits and bobs around the house whilst listening.
